A 5-day private tour of Morocco, beginning and ending in Tanger. It stays north of the Atlas, working through the imperial cities and the Rif before returning along the Atlantic.
Tanger – Tetouan – Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fez – Rabat – Asilah – Tanger
5 days, 4 nights. The day-by-day itinerary is below.
A gentle opening day. We leave the coast at Tanger and climb into the Rif, stopping at Tetouan on the way, reaching Chefchaouen with the afternoon free to walk the blue medina before the light goes.
Overnight in Chefchaouen.
The historical day. We come down out of the Rif to the Roman city at Volubilis, then on to Meknes and its imperial gates, arriving in Fes in the evening. Around five hours of driving spread across a full day of stops.
Overnight in Fes.
Fes el Bali is the largest car-free urban area in the world and the oldest of the imperial capitals. A full day is the least it takes to get any sense of it, and most of that day is on foot.
Overnight in Fes.
We leave Fes westward, stopping at Meknes, and reach the Atlantic at Rabat in the afternoon. Around three hours of driving, with the rest of the day in the capital.
Overnight in Rabat.
An easy final day up the coast, with a stop at Asilah, where the ramparts are repainted each summer. Around three hours of driving spread across the day.
Drop-off at your accommodation in Tanger.
